Here you find a very large faience double-sided Eye of Horus. Pierced for suspension. The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection and power and it represents the right eye of the Egyptian falcon god, Horus. As the "udjat" it also represented the sun and was therefore associated with the Sun god Ra. The mirror image or left eye represented the moon and the god Tehuti or Thoth. Dates to circa the Late Period and measures 3.6 inches in width. Damaged and repaired as shown.
