Lovely ancient Mayan vase from the Northern Petén area of Guatemala. Dates to circa 250 – 600 AD and measure 5-1/4” in diameter. This lidded vessel is decorated with a series of water glyphs painted in red and black over cream slip on the chamber, as well as the lid. It is intact with vivid paint, good mineral deposits. Has some calcification, root marks and just a bit of erosion of the slip as seen in the photo. Beautiful piece!
