Messapian Kantharos: Ancient Native Apulian Pottery
Beautiful and elegant pottery kantharos from the Messapian Greek tribes of Southern Italy, Circa 400 BC. Has an ivy scroll around the neck of the vessel and lovely hook design across the body. Rays decorate the outer high arching handles. Intact said for a small hairline where one handle connects to rim (as seen in photo). Measures 6.5 inches in height.
